H&H// Step Up For The Cool Cats – Palma Violets

Palma Violets have tonight debuted their 2nd single ‘Step Up For The Cool Cats’ on Zane Lowe’s Radio 1 show.

Despite having only studio 3 tracks to their name prior to this, the band have aleady appeared on the front of the NME, been named in the BBC Sound of 2013 poll, and appeared in countless ‘ones-to-watch’ lists for the year ahead. The widespread anticipation for the London outfit’s debut album, ‘180‘, is undeniably massive and ‘…Cool Cats’ only seems likely to heighten it even more.  Pete Mayhew’s haunting Farfisa organ is bmusic_palma_violets_1ack to dominate proceedings, and the track captures the Clash-like nature also displayed by previous single, ‘Best Of Friends‘, with even more euphoric, echo-fueled guitar than before. Sam Fryer’s vocals switch between rapturous shrieking and the dark crooning of Ian McCulloch, with the rest of the band following suit and going suitably crazy when prompted.

Judging by this, Palma Violets are one unstoppable force that just keep getting better and better. Now, if only all Palma Violets fans could now be described as ‘Cool Cats’, then I think that’d be the icing on the top of this very promising cake.

You can listen to the single below.

180‘ is released on 25th February
