Trans emerged to the world at Liverpool Psychedelic Festival late last month with an effortless sound of sheer talent, as a result of a duo of ’90s excellence, Bernard Butler and Jackie McKeown, putting their heads together for a track or two.

Since then, a collection of carefully assembled films backed by jarring motorik rhythm, impeccable vocals – ranging from the raucous edge of “Rock Steady” to the soft and understated  “Jubilee” – and mellow, mazy riffs have graced the internet and the tracks are already shifting their way onto BBC 6music playlists and the likes, for all the right reasons. Of the three EP tracks currently available to ears everywhere, not one hints at any lapse in the musicality or, quite simply, genius of either half – despite their disappearances from the stage in recent years – and Trans look quickly set to shake up a storm of seriously ace noise.

The pair are set to release a series of EPs with the first, “Trans Red“, which was released on 7th October, alongside a limited 12” release, both available now via Rough Trade.
