RADSOUND // SOTW: THE SNOWS OF KILIMANJARO – VELUDO PLANES

Originally published on Radsound

This week’s single is via Southsea quartet Veludo Planes with ‘The Snows Of Kilimanjaro’.

After a swift name rebrand and a run of recent shows with the likes of Sunset Sons and Circa Waves, ‘The Snows Of Kilimanjaro’ is the debut single release from the outfit and channels the finely tuned indie rock Veludo Planes’ past offerings have excelled at. Taking inspiration from Ernest Hemingway’s story of the same name, the vocals of Mike Smith carry an anthemic melody in the vein of Tribes and those alike with the agression of Pixies, whilst guitar riffs brashly dominate the lo-fi musical background to make for what feels like an instant hit from the band.

With no doubt more goodness to come and a collection of live dates – including a single release show at The Garage next month, Veludo Planes seem only set to go up from here on in.

The Snows Of Kilimanjaro‘ is out on 1st March 2015
