This week’s single comes from the return of Manchester’s Hurts with ‘Lights’.

The track is a more funk-fuelled offering than previous material, yet retains the sultry electronic attitude the duo always portray, ‘Lights’ is another infectious cut from their upcoming third album, ‘Surrender’, out next month.

Dominated by a pulsating clavinet-esque bassline against sharp snaps of drum machines, Theo Hutchcraft’s silky pleas meander over the music with an instantaneously catchy melody assured to be stuck in the heads of many for some time to come. Completed with a soulful vocal breakdown, the pure infusion of disco and electro pop of the track – likely down to new producer Ariel Rechtshaid (Brandon Flowers, Madonna) – makes it unavoidably hard to ignore.
